Merging into Traffic Do’s and Don’ts

FAMILY OWNED | FAMILY FOCUSED | FAMILY DRIVEN

Merging onto a busy highway or interstate is nerve wrecking for most. Even if you have the right of way, you can still be courteous to your fellow motorists and allow them to merge more easily. Here are some Do’s and Don’ts when it comes to letting others merge

– DON’T slow down to an unsafe speed to allow someone else to merge – While the person merging might be grateful, you are putting yourself and others in danger of an avoidable accident.

– DO move over safely, if possible – Switching lanes to allow someone to merge is going to be your best bet in letting someone merge more easily. You must remember to NEVER do this at the expense of safety.

– DON’T wait until the last second to make a decision – As truck drivers, you know you must always look ahead. A last-minute decision to let another vehicle over is more likely to lead to an accident.

– DO realize that road conditions and circumstances change – Of course you want to be courteous, but you must realize safety comes first!

Safety First – Safety Always
