Heads Up Drivers!
This year’s CVSA Brake Safety Week will take place August 22 — 28 and will be focused on hoses and tubing. The CVSA shared a few stats on break violations:
- During last year’s International Roadcheck, 38.6% of all vehicle out-of-service conditions were caused by brake systems and brake adjustments.
- “Brake systems” was the 3rd most cited vehicle-related factor in fatal commercial motor vehicle and passenger vehicle crashes.
- 8 of the top 20 vehicle violations in 2020 were brake related
- 12% of the 43,565 commercial motor vehicles were placed out of service in 2020 for brake-related violations
As always, be sure to be extra thorough when doing your pre trip inspections. We do not want our drivers being in danger because of a missed issue!
